HDPE SDR Pressure Pipes

Standard Dimension Ratio (SDR) high-density polyethylene pressure pipes. Engineered for municipal water mains, fire lines, gas transport, and chemical discharge lines.

Solid-Wall High Pressure Pipelines

HDPE SDR Pressure Pipes are the premier solution for municipal water systems, boasting extreme pressure capacity, high flexibility, and leak-free fusion joints.

Manufactured from premium-grade virgin PE100/PE80 polymers, they are resistant to high impacts, shifting soil geology, and severe corrosive actions. Available in solid black or with co-extruded blue stripes for drinkable water systems.

Benefits and Features

Safe for Portable Water

Certified non-toxic compound. Maintains clean water quality during transport, completely free of heavy metals or biological build-up.

High Impact & Deflection

Incredibly tough yet flexible design allows it to navigate terrain variations and withstand water hammer pressures without cracking.

Zero-Leak Homogeneous Joints

Heat-fused butt welds or electrofusion sleeves link individual sections into one continuous line, eliminating joints leaks.

HDPE Pipe Pressure Fittings Collection

Complete Fittings Selection

We supply a massive selection of high-pressure HDPE pipe fittings to ensure seamless transitions, connections, and system integrity:

  • Butt Fusion Series: Molded or fabricated elbows (45°/90°), Tees, stub ends, and concentric reducers.
  • Electrofusion Series: High-integrity copper-coil embedded couplings, tees, saddles, and reduction cuffs.
  • Compression Fittings: Non-loose component quick-connect male/female adaptors and couplers for quick field assembly.

SDR Pressure Ratings & SDR Chart

Standard Dimension Ratio (SDR) defines the relation between the pipe’s outer diameter and wall thickness. Lower SDR numbers denote thicker walls and higher pressure capacities.

SDR ClassWall Thickness ClassNominal Pressure (PN at PE100)Typical Application
SDR 9Thickest WallPN 20 (20 Bar)Extreme pressure industrial discharge / mining lines
SDR 11Thick WallPN 16 (16 Bar)Municipal water mains, high-pressure fire systems
SDR 13.6Standard WallPN 12.5 (12.5 Bar)Standard water supply distribution pipelines
SDR 17Standard WallPN 10 (10 Bar)Agricultural irrigation, sewage force mains
SDR 21Thin WallPN 8 (8 Bar)Gravity sewers, low-pressure irrigation systems
SDR 26Thinest WallPN 6.3 (6.3 Bar)Cable conduits, low-pressure vent conduits

Understanding Standard Dimension Ratio (SDR)

SDR 11 (Thick Wall) SDR 17 (Thin Wall) Formula: SDR = Outer Diameter (OD) / Wall Thickness (t)

A lower SDR ratio results in higher pressure resistance but smaller internal bore. Standard PE100 resins provide higher pressure resistance at thin walls compared to older PE80 materials.

Butt Fusion Welding Procedure

Proper jointing is critical for the high-pressure capabilities of SDR pipelines. Butt fusion welding uses precise heating and pressure alignments.

Step-by-Step Jointing Guidelines

  • Clean Ends: Wipe the pipe ends inside and outside to thoroughly remove all dirt, oil, and moisture.
  • Square Facing: Secure pipes in the machine alignment clamps and square the ends using the facing planner tool.
  • Check Line-up: Inspect the pipe matching to ensure the ends meet square and parallel over the entire surface area.
  • Heater Plate Fusion: Place the clean heater plate between the ends. Hold the pipe faces against it with minimal contact pressure, letting them absorb heat and soften.
  • Joining: Withdraw the heater plate and quickly bring the hot pipe ends together with uniform fusion pressure, forming a continuous double bead around the joint ring.
  • Inspection: Allow the joint to cool completely under pressure before releasing clamps. Inspect the weld bead for structural integrity.
